ABOUT US

Ne Kongo West-Midlands is a voluntary organisation which aims to encourage social action by supporting Ne Kongo people living in West-Midlands to work together to effect change both in their lives and within the community, raising funds for issues they feel passionate about and organising practical tasks

Organs: The main organs of Ne Kongo West Midlands are:
  - The General Assembly
  - The Management Committee
  - The Board of Founders.

 

Our objectives are to:

 

  • Raise the profile of our member living in West-Midlands in conformity with the pattern of both Congolese and UK values. This is about promoting the Ne Kongo culture pride by encouraging our members to refer to the positives values inherited from our ancestors and the UK values;

 

  • Broaden members knowledge in connection with the Kongo Kingdom History, and also to update the Ne Kongo community mind about the currents events occurring among the Ne Kongo people in Africa and around the world;

 

  • Promote equality of opportunity and access, and to promote the value of diversity as well as setting up some reception facilities in order to support new Ne Kongo person coming in the West Midlands to face smoothly his integration;

 

  • Carry out concrete actions that work towards the integral development of the inhabitants of the district area of Bas-Congo in particular, and of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in general.

  • Promote partnerships within the voluntary sector and between the voluntary  and other sectors;

Membership: The membership of Ne Kongo West Midlands is open to any individual who brings some expertise as he/she subscribes to the objectives of the organisation, in respect of the principle of equal opportunity. Such an individual is referred to as GUEST Member.

Where it is considered membership would be detrimental to the aims and activities of the Association, the Management Committee has the power to refuse membership.

 

Management Committee: The Association is administered by a Management Committee of 11 people elected from and by full members for a period of up to one year. The positions of Management Committee are as follow:

The General Secretary,

The Vice General Secretary,

The Reporter Secretary,
The Public Relations Representative,

The Treasurer,

The Auditor,
Two usher officers, and

The Founder – appointed as an honorary officer.

 

Finance: Any money acquired by the Association, including donations, contributions and bequests, shall be paid into an account operated by the Management Committee in the name of the Association. All funds must be applied to the objects of the association and for no other purpose.
